This workshop is intended for teachers who are already familiar with and are actively using CLEAR's Rich Internet Applications tools and are interested in using the tools for formative (i.e. portfolio) language assessment. Participants from this summer's Rich Internet Applications for Language Learning: Introductory Techniques workshop will also benefit from this workshop. The workshop will focus on integrating RIA materials with course management system (CMS) tools and other online environments that schools are using and application of the tools for formative language assessment. In particular we will focus on oral assessment and using RIAs to track oral proficiency gains over time (over an academic year or over the course of four years, for example). Part of the time will be devoted to consultation with instructors on their individual testing projects or applications of the tools for specific testing purposes. Prerequisite: Rich Internet Applications for Language Learning: Introductory Techniques workshop OR already actively using RIAs.
